THE BRITNEY SPEARS FOUNDATION
HELPING
CHILDREN IN NEED
Britney
Spears passionately believes that the power of entertainment
truly can make a difference in people's lives. It's certainly
made a difference in hers.
That's
why she started The Britney Spears Foundation, which is
focused on a single goal -- to help children in need. The
philosophy behind the Foundation is that music and entertainment
has a healing quality that can truly benefit these kids.
From creating a fun-filled playroom for kids on extended
hospital stays to The Britney Spears Camp for the Performing
Arts, the Foundation's work is focused on the power entertainment
has to heal and fulfill. View The Britney Spears Foundation

MISSION STATEMENT
The
mission of The Britney Spears Foundation is focused on a
singular goal - to help children. Central to the Foundation's
core principles is the ability to apply the restorative
aspect of entertainment to benefit children in need.
The
Foundation fulfills this mission in a variety of ways. Designed
to benefit deserving youth, The Britney Spears Foundation
supports the annual Britney Spears Camp for the Performing
Arts. As the Camp is fully funded by The Britney Spears
Foundation, there is no charge to participants.
The
Britney Spears Foundation also creates fun-filled playrooms
for children on extended hospital stays. These
playrooms allow children to play, relax,
learn, and most importantly, enjoy being kids.
Along with these and other efforts, The Britney Spears Foundation
focuses on the most rewarding dimensions of entertainment - the
power to heal and the power to fulfill.
In April
2002, through the efforts of Britney Spears and The Britney
Spears Foundation a grant of $1 million was made to the
Twin Towers Fund to support the children of uniformed service
heroes affected by the disaster of September 11th, 2001,
including New York City Fire Department and its Emergency
Medical Services Command, the New York City Police Department,
the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the New York
State Office of court Administration and other government
offices.
The
Britney Spears Foundation recognizes the holistic approach
that the Twin Towers Fund is taking in its support of these
families. Ms. Spears personally feels that exposure to the
performing and creative arts are an important to the healing
process, and has designated a significant portion of this
grant for children to attend artistic classes, whether it
be instrument instruction, vocal or dance classes, or any
kind of creative art.
THE BRITNEY SPEARS CAMP FOR THE PERFORMING
ARTS
Designed
to benefit deserving youth, the annual Camp for the Performing
Arts includes 140 boys and girls from New England, New York,
Washington, DC, and New Orleans, ages 11 15, who
participate in performing arts workshops and master classes.
As the Camp is fully funded by The Britney Spears Foundation,
there is no charge to participants.
The
Camp for the Performing Arts experience provides campers
the opportunity to explore and develop their talents. The
Camp offers classes in improvisational acting, blues performance,
dance, musical theater, singing, set design, juggling, drumming,
and music video production. In addition, campers experience
all that the camp has to offer, from the natural beauty
of its location to great camp activities such as swimming,
biking, and archery.
The Camp for the Performing Arts is much more than just
a camp. Kids learn about life here in an empowering, enchanting,
and exciting environment. Through the performance process,
kids learn that it is ok to work hard and take healthy risks.
New skills develop while our young performers increase self-esteem
and make new friendships that will last a lifetime. Through
our work together, campers build a level of cooperation
and respect that develops a real community atmosphere. We
are more than a community - we are a family.
